Alex Baena’s return to good health lasted just one match. The Atletico Madrid midfielder has suffered a low-grade muscle tear and, barring a miraculous recovery, will miss the upcoming game against Elche.
This is the first injury of the season for Atletico Madrid. The club confirmed on Wednesday that Baena sustained a low-grade muscle tear that will keep him out of the next fixture.
Baena made his official debut against Espanyol, a match Atletico Madrid failed to win. He finished the game feeling overloaded, and subsequent medical tests confirmed the injury.
“Alex Baena was unable to complete Wednesday’s training session after feeling some muscular discomfort. The Spain international underwent tests, and the club’s medical team has confirmed he has a low-grade muscle tear,” the club stated.
As a result, Baena will miss the clash against Elche this weekend. His recovery progress will determine whether he can return before or after the upcoming international break.
