Manchester City and Erling Haaland will remain together for nine more years, as the Sky Blues have officially announced. The English club and the Norwegian striker have reached an agreement to extend his contract until 2034, securing one of the biggest contracts in the history of football.
Erling Haaland has renewed his contract with Manchester City until 2034. While it sounds extraordinary to say in 2025, the English side has agreed to a nine-and-a-half-year deal with the Norwegian striker, as confirmed through an official statement.
Haaland’s previous contract with Manchester City was set to expire in 2027, but he has now secured an extended contract, improving both the length of his deal and the salary he will earn, making it one of the longest contracts in football history.
Although the financial details of the new contract have not been disclosed, The Athletic journalist David Ornstein claims that Haaland’s contract will be one of the most lucrative in football history.
This announcement comes amid uncertainty regarding whether Manchester City will face sanctions due to the 115 charges it faces for violating Premier League ‘Financial Fair Play’ regulations, which could potentially result in the club being relegated.
The Norwegian striker joined Manchester City in the summer of 2022 after the English side paid Borussia Dortmund 60 million euros for his transfer. Since then, Haaland has continued to score goals and establish himself as one of the best strikers in the world, if not the best.
Haaland has scored an impressive 111 goals in 126 appearances for Manchester City and has won two Premier League titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup, and one European Super Cup.
With this renewal, both the club and Haaland aim to put an end to all the rumors about a possible move to Real Madrid or Barcelona, two clubs he has been linked to in recent years.
